Emulation project!

Soooo I am thinking about doing a mix of david halliard and John Coplans work.  I really liked Davids work where the photograph runs into 2 or more frames. I really Like Johns work of the body and figure close up. I like the abstract form he creates. I am going to try and put my own spin on it by using a digital camera rather than film and I am going to use a macro lens and he didn't !

This is my first roll of film , I didn't really know what I wanted to do for this project so I just wanted to experiment with double exposures and multiple exposures!

The next rolls of film I decided to shoot in black and white and color. I photographed the figure. I ended up getting surprising results. I really like how the images turned out.

Holga Project

I just got my holga film back and when I first looked at it, I was really disappointed. Most of my film, hardly had an image on it. But I decided to scan them anyways. I started playing around with my images and realized I really liked the way they came out. They remind me of a rough sketch of a drawing with shading and texture. My images are of the figure but when looking at them, I focus more on the texture and shapes the body creates. The great thing about a holga camera is every image is a complete surprise!

Chris Jordan exhibition

"Running the numbers"

HIS WORK IS AMAZING! I love the fact that just ONE image looks so different just from the distance you are looking at it from. I also love the concept of his idea. I like how his work is representing a global importance. His images are representing very important issues, but his photographs are so beautiful!! Chris Jordan says, "My work brings these staggering numbers to life in constructed digital photographs that are at once alluring and shocking". This quote is so true, looking at these photographs really are such a shock to look at. My favorite image in the exhibition was the Barbie Dolls! When I was walking over to it, I was like, "Oh cool, pretty flowers!"...but it was not flowers at all!! It was thousands of naked barbie dolls placed in a certain place and direction. The Overall image created an outline of a women's body. This photograph represented the number of breast augmentations in the U.S. His work is so powerful in so many ways! I would love to know how he thought of this idea and how much time was put into creating each of these photographs! PROPS TO HIM!

I really liked this image too because it created a totally different image when looking at it from a far away distance. It looks like a normal day at the beach. But when you get close, it is amazing! It is millions of cans. This image represented the number of aluminum cans used every 30 sec!! CRAZY!

I LOVE this photograph. It would be cool to try doing multiple exposures with the figure!

David Hilliard

I really like the idea of creating multiple images in a series. I would like to experiment with this for the emulation project. I did a little bit of this last semester in digital with the panoramas but I would like to experiment more and be creative with the compositions like David Hilliard.
